King of Glory Staff
Rich Merkouris is the senior pastor at King of Glory. He is a graduate of Sioux Falls Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and on May 18, 2011, he was the first pastor ordained as a North American Lutheran Church pastor. He enjoys golfing, pheasant hunting, softball, reading, and having people over for supper!
Rich’s wife Shannon teaches at John Harris Elementary School in the special education area. You will often see Shannon helping lead worship services as she is the one with the musical abilities in the Merkouris family. Rich and Shannon have three children, Hannah, Henry and Hazel.
“It is an extreme honor and joy to lead this congregation as we seek to proclaim the good news of Jesus,” Rich says. “There is nothing better than telling and hearing about the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. We are now free to go out and serve our neighbor. We will be a congregation that’s grounded in the scriptures and focused on reaching out to others.”
Director of Ministry Operations
Julie serves as the Director of Ministry Operations at King of Glory. In her role she is responsible for the adult ministry, deacon/care ministry, volunteer assimilation, supervision of staff and oversees the daily operations.
Julie grew up on a farm in Minnesota. She graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in Business Education. She is married to her husband Tom of 34 years. They are blessed with 2 sons Nick and Doyle, 1 daughter Kayla, a son-in-law Chris and a daughter-in-law Abby. And most recently became grandparents to their grandson, Oliver. Julie loves to sing, read and study God’s Word, and spend time with her family and friends. One thing that excites Julie in her role at King of Glory is encouraging and seeing others grow in their walk with Jesus, discovering their passions and plugging them in to the KOG community.
Children's Ministry Coordinator
Matt was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from Washington High School. He attended Oklahoma Wesleyan University to obtain a B.S. in Ministry and Leadership! By the grace of God, he came to know Jesus and felt the call to go into full-time ministry with a focus on Children’s ministry. He loves kids with a passion, and loves to see kids hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He says, "I am excited to be a part of King of Glory and to offer what I can to see more and more children and their families grow deeper in their relationship with our loving God."
Matt's Family consists of his beautiful wife, Jess and three amazing children, Jayke (5), Jentry (3), and Jersey (15mo). When Jess isn’t home with the kids, she is a personal banker, and when Matt is away from King of Glory, you can catch me spending time with family and friends, playing/watching sports, reading, and spending time with the kids at Compassion Child care.
Dawson is the outreach coordinator at King of Glory. He has lived in Sioux Falls for the last five years with his wife Danielle and two boys Jonah (2) and Ezra (11 months). He enjoys being outside, playing basketball, being with friends and making new ones!
His background includes 7 years working for ACR healthcare group supporting individuals with disabilities. He has worked at Compassion Child Care in downtown Sioux Falls for the last five years providing income based child care for working poor families alongside his wife Danielle.
Danielle is the COO of Compassion Child Care in Downtown Sioux Falls. Jonah likes to help his dad with any project around the house, especially if hammers are involved. Ezra currently aspires to be a puppy (lots of chewing and growling).
Trista Hackett serves as the bookkeeper. In her role she is responsible for all financial operations.
Born and raised in Northwest Iowa, Trista moved to Sioux Falls in 2007 to attend the University of Sioux Falls. In 2010, Trista graduated from USF with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Accounting & Business Administration. After graduating, Trista worked at First PREMIER Bank for 4 years developing leadership and management skills. She is excited to be able to use these skills in her role as bookkeeper.
Trista starting getting involved at King of Glory when she met her husband, Derek. They now have a son Boyd and a daughter Thea. She enjoys playing the piano and got involved by helping with music during worship. She has also enjoyed helping with the youth lock-ins and the children’s summer bible school. “It has been such a blessing to be a part of King of Glory. The people here are my second family and I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve them and grow more with them full time.”
When she is not working, Trista likes to spend time and travel with her family and friends. She also enjoys baking for them.
