It is hard to think that the new year is already here, but we have started back up after break! It is always so fun to reunite after a few weeks off and everyone is always excited to be back together!
Worship Night - On January 23rd, the middle school and high school students are invited to join Abby and Doyle for a night of worshiping together. These worship nights are a time for any youth who are interested in either learning/practicing some basics on the bass guitar, guitar, piano, or for any youth who would like to come and sing as we play through worship songs. We will meet from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. If you would like more information about this or if your student would like to join us, please contact Doyle Burnside - email@example.com.
Middle School Youth - Last night we changed a few things up and actually joined the elementary school kids for worship. Our middle school students were up front leading the actions to our songs as we started the year out with some live worship. It was so fun seeing this group interact and lead on the spot! After worship we retreated to the youth room. This week we went through a review of last semester. I also start off every semester with the a four point reminder of the Good News. First starting with creation! What a powerful story, not just to see the power of God, but see how God had a plan and purpose for us. We were created differently than everything else in creation as we were created in the image of God! Then we go to Genesis 3. We see the fall of man and sin enter into the world. Realizing that there is sin our own lives and that sin leads to death. However, the story does not end here! Jesus, the Son of God, enters the story and we see the most powerful love of all - Jesus laying down His life for us! And finally, through the death and resurrection, we ask the question, what now. WE will be continuing a series called "For the Win" next week and this reminder of the Good News brings a clearer picture as to why we would seek and desire these messages!
High School - To start off the 2016 year, we did something different in our high school group as well and took a road trip to Hy-Vee. As we continue to meet this semester, we will be going through a common theme - go. Our high school students have agreed to challenge one another to go and be a part of something outside of Wednesday nights once a month. This all comes from a common questions within our youth group - how do I tell others about my faith. We share not just by our words, but by our actions!
As our middle school and high school group continue to meet, I ask you to pray for our students. Pray for the desire to go and be a light for the community and people we interact with!
Finally, if you would like more information about our Wednesday night ministry, or if you have any questions please feel free to contact me any time!
