Recap 1/21/2015

What an amazing night at King of Glory. I feel like the excitement around KOG is growing and I am truly excited to see how God continues to work through us as a church family!

Here are a couple of upcoming events to mark your calendars with:

February 18th (which is Ash Wednesday) we will be having another serve Wednesday with the youth. We are going to the St. Francis House to help prepare, serve, and clean up supper. We will have two groups going as they like to keep numbers around 7. The first group will be going at 5:15 and getting done around 6:15/6:30 and the second group will plan on arriving there around 6:15/6:30 and finishing around 7:30p.m.

Youth Worship Night: Saturday February 21st at 7:00p.m. and going to 8:30 p.m. Again, students are encouraged to come and build relationships with the other youth members as we worship with one another. If your student is interested in learning some basics on the guitar, bass, or piano, or simply wants to sing along as we sing praises to our King, they are invited to join us on the 21st.

GO 4 GOLD family event: February 27th we will be having an Olympic themed family night. This will be a fun event for all ages as we continue to build on the community of King of Glory. This event will start at 6:00 p.m. and go until 8:00 p.m. Friday night.

May 31st - June 4th, is the tentative date for this years mission trip. There are still a few more details that we are working on. This years mission trip will be in Sioux Falls with the main focus being a VBS for a multi-cultural base. We will be inviting Pastor Samuel's congregation, along with King Kloset families and a few other apartment complexes in Sioux Falls. Along with this being held in the evenings, we will be partnering with several other ministries held in Sioux Falls so that our students can experience and work within our very own community. As more information is sorted out I will keep you posted.

Wednesday Night Recap:
Middle School: In Middle School we continued to look at prayer and the power that comes with prayer. Remembering last week that prayer is far greater than just words, it is part of our relationship with God. Looking into James chapter 5:13-18, we see that in faith, we are called to pray on all occasion. And through this time with God, He will continue to listen, work, and answer our prayers! The question for this week is - do we believe and trust that God is hearing our prayers, and that He will work through them?

High School: We started our first session of our dating and sex study. This first week was focused on the purpose of dating in general, as well as our response and behaviors as Christians. The bible might not give us a direct outline on how the time frame of dating works, or specific ways in which we should go about dating, however, there is a lot about relationships. 1 Corinthians 13 truly does give us a good look in how our relationships (not just marriage) should look. There is patience, kindness, love, commitment, enduring, and guarding of one anothers heart (the thoughts, will, morals, truths) as we build relationships. And ultimately, we are reminded that it is not all about us. Dating is about two people coming together with different backgrounds and work toward becoming one. The ultimate goal is to find that person that one wants to spend the rest of our lives with - it is the journey toward marriage.

As this year continues on (one month is already almost done!) I ask that you as parents continue to pray for this youth ministry. Pray for the faith of your students as they face so many temptations as youth. Pray that God would send His Spirit upon us as we continue to strive to be like Christ.

If there are any questions, please let me know by emailing or calling.
