Up Your Weekend Game with These Great Sioux Falls Activities

If your kids are bored from the dog days of summer, it might just be time to up your weekend game with these fun Sioux Falls activities. 

McCrossan Boy's Ranch Xtreme Rodeo

It is back! If you like Rodeo and supporting non-profit causes that help at-risk youth in the Sioux Falls community this event is a perfect family activity. On Saturday, August 27 at 4:30 PM gates open for the McCrossan Boys Ranch Xtreme Event Challenge. This rodeo features the most action-packed and fun rodeo favorites such as barrel racing, mutton busting and the Northern Bull Riding Tour!  All proceeds will go to support the quality programs for at-risk youth at McCrossan Boys Ranch. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. Kids 12 and under just $5!

Mo's Courageous Kids Carnival

Who doesn't like free inflatables, temporary tattoos, carnival games and prizes and the ZooMobile? On Saturday, August 27, at lower Sherman Park (12th and Kiwanis) the Sioux Falls Morning Optimists are hosting a kids carnival. The games and events start at 11:00AM and go until 4:00PM. There will be food and raffle tickets for great prizes available for purchase as well!

Bark in the Park 

If you're a dog-loving family, you will love the 14th annual Bark in the Park, a fundraiser for the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. The featured 2K walk and 4K run will take place on Saturday, August 27th at Spencer Park (3501 S. Cliff Ave). Registration will begin at 9am and the walk and run will begin at 10am. Registration requires a minimum pledge of $20. But a "Top Dog Award" will go to the participant that raises the most pledges! Following the walk/run, there will be fun contests for you and your dog. Take the whole family and try and win a prize, or just attend to see the dogs, owners and their silly antics. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: 

  • Beastly Bark: Dog with the loudest bark (measured in decibels, dB).
  • Prettiest Pooch: Best dressed female dog.
  • Handsome Hound: Best dressed male dog.
  • Best Trick: Best trick performed. Evaluated by difficulty and performance execution.
  • Furriest Friend: Dog that sheds the most fur in a fixed amount of time.
  • Pooch Smooch: Dog that can lick 1/4 cup of peanut butter off their owner's face the fastest.
