King of Glory will be hosting three different nights of discussion pertaining to topics relative to the lives of our youth this summer on Wednesday nights. The date for the first night is June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Seminary in Room 204B. Child care will be available.
These sessions will be topics for parents, grandparents, teachers, ministry leaders or spiritual mentors of children of all ages. They will include audio commentary from Focus on the Family and group discussion.
Here is a bit of info regarding topics to be covered:
June 18: "Protecting your Family from the Digital Invasion"
This session is with Dr. Archibald Hart an Dr. Sylvia Hart Frejd. Dr. Hart is Dean and Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. Dr. Frejd is a Christian counselor and earned her doctorate of ministry in leadership specializing in spiritual formation and is certified in internet addiction. We will learn ways that digital technology is changing us from within, physically, mentally and especially spiritually. It will offer therapeutic and biblical strategies to become good stewards of our digital lives.
July 16: "Eradicating the Entitlement Mentality of our Kids"
By racing in to make our children's lives easy, have we unintentionally reinforced our kid's belief that the world revolves around them? At this session, we will hear from Kay Wills Wyma who will enlighten us about entitlement in our kids and not just what it is, but also what to do about it. Kay has written a book called Cleaning House and talks about her 12-month experiment to rid her home of youth entitlement.
August 13: "Faith and Family"
In this session, we will hear from Christian author and speaker Francis Chan, who will challenge couples to devote themselves fully to God's calling for their marriage and their family.
