King's Kloset Continues to Grow

John Bultsma and Gail Hanson help register some King's Kloset visitors at a recent distribution day.Note: Each month we are featuring an update on one of the outreach ministry areas that King of Glory supports. This month, we look at King’s Kloset and how it encourages and empowers those in the Sioux Falls area who are in need, by providing household items along with care, support, prayer and friendship.

Well, King’s Kloset is 5 months old already and let me tell you God is working in so many ways.   It is amazing where God is taking this ministry.  We have focused on reaching out to two daycares in Sioux Falls, Compassion Child Care and Interlakes Community Action Partnership Early Head Start.  Response from these daycares has been very good.

We have started small as our main goal is to build relationships with the families we are serving.  We continue to grow each month and word of mouth is spreading fast.  In fact, in September we had 80 families visit the Kloset, which surpassed our previous high of 24 families. I know God is working through this ministry and making a difference in many people’s lives.

A few comments we have received from our guests include, “This has been so helpful to me and my son, especially with me starting a new job and all the challenges that go with that. Thank you!” and “Everything you guys are doing is such a help to our family, the wide variety of products is so helpful!”

We are so thankful for our congregation’s help in making King’s Kloset a success so far, and we pray for your continued support. Thank you to those who have donated their time and for all the items donated each month.  Our goal for the Items of the Month is to provide the families with a household need that is costly, or an item that is often considered an extra that depending on life situations may not be feasible.

We are excited to make our October Items of the Month even more special. We are asking our congregation to “adopt a family” and purchase hats and gloves for each member of the family.

We would also like you to know that everything that is donated by our congregation is used to bless others. As we continue to grow, any items we have left over are either donated in other ways or saved for another month to give out to families. For example, we gave the extra bottles of sunscreen we had to daycares to use while the children are in their care.

We continue to pray that King’s Kloset will bring glory to God and bring His love to hurting families in Sioux Falls. We also hope that this is a ministry our whole congregation can be involved in. This is very important, especially as the Kloset continues to grow. More products will be needed for the Items of the Month and more people will be needed on distribution days in order to ensure our ability to build relationships with our visitors.

If you have a free Saturday, please sign up to help us. There is a spot for everyone to help on our distribution days! I know you will be blessed by blessing others!

Onward,
