Parents of young people are encouraged to attend Parent Summit 2012 on Monday, April 16, from 7-9 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Sioux Falls.
Renowned author and speaker Dr. Chap Clark is the featured speaker at this parenting seminar, which is designed to leverage resources for parents of young people.
In this seminar, Dr. Clark will help equip parents of teenagers to both understand and nurture their children in a constantly changing cultural environment, help parents gain insight into their child's journey, and to develop a more authentic and effective parenting strategy throughout the teen years and beyond.
According to Student Ministries Coordinator Kyle Helder, this seminar is a strong tool for parents, and even grandparents, of youth of all age groups, not just middle school and high school students.
"Chap Clark has been given a great opportunity to truly hear how mid-adolescents and adolescents view themselves, the world, their families, and the church,” Helder said. “Because of his insight, Chap helps parents understand the ‘worlds’ their students encounter every day. Chap also encourages parents and gives them tools to authentically speak into the lives of their children.”
Dr. Clark is the associate Provost of Regional Campuses and Special Projects and Professor of Youth, Family and Culture at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. He has written 21 books and dozens of articles on parenting. He is also the founder of ParenTEEN and the HURT seminars.
The cost of the event is $5 per individual or $7 per couple. To register for the summit, please go to www.oakhills.net/summit.
